A formal AGM will begin at 10am for CEOs, MDs and the Board of Trustees before the main conference gets underway.
An overview of some of the key strands of work and CLUK insights including:
Reflections on the new Labour Government and opportunities for CLUK members to effectively engage
A former professional rugby player, with a background working in international trade and climate change, Stuart is now a Barrister and the founder of Labour Society for Sport, the Labour Party’s first formal society to generate sports and recreation policy.
Having stood for election as an MP for Labour, Stuart will share his reflections on the first few months of the new Government; and the role of leisure and culture in supporting the Government’s Five Missions and opportunities for members to engage politically.
Four members share their experiences and approaches to the Seriously Social campaign and how they have adapted this for their organisations. Including embedding the approach into business planning, engaging the workforce and telling the social impact story to stakeholders.
The Saints Inside programme incorporates both Northampton Saints Foundation and rugby’s own core values to address reoffending in UK prisons. It integrates classroom learning with physical activities to support inmates in developing skills and confidence, reducing criminal behaviour, and enhancing their prospects post-release.
Northampton Saints Foundation will present an overview, explain how the programme originated, what’s included, the partners involved, the challenges and barriers faced. There will also be the opportunity to hear directly how the scheme has impacted its participants, along with its wider impact on society.
Culture Commons has been leading a four-nations research and open policy development programme to explore how devolution and increased local decision making might impact on the creative, cultural and heritage ecosystem in the UK.
This workshop will explore the recommendations from this research, due to be published early November, and facilitate a discussion with members on the provision of local culture.
Presenter -Trevor MacFarlane, CEO, Culture Commons
The Richmond Group of Charities’ ‘Movement for All’ and Paths for All’s ‘Movement for Health’ programme teams will facilitate a discussion on how community leisure providers can engage people with long-term conditions in their spaces, communications and workforce. Thinking beyond the many successful exercise referral schemes which bring this audience through the doors, this session will encourage participants to look at their offer in the round and ask what good practice looks like in the physical environment, the workforce and in marketing and communications when engaging people with long-term conditions.
Eastside People recently launched, in partnership with ACEVO, a free ESG survey and reporting tool for third sector organisations.
This workshop will explore the high level findings from the survey, the relevance for members and facilitate a discussion around how to use the tool and resources to tell the story of social impact.
