Leadership Training

Published on: August 13th 2026

High-performing people don’t necessarily, intuitively, know how to become GREAT leaders. Equally, you don’t promote the best employees to “do their best”!

You promote them to lead and deliver results that make the company stronger. And without formal training many managers can and do struggle to communicate effectively as well as handling feedback and conflict unsatisfactorily.

The effect creates low staff morale and high turnover of employees. New leaders can of course, grow into their new role. But in a world that changes by the second then perhaps a quicker way is through training and encouragement.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with Curriculo Solutions as a training partner to deliver Emerging Leaders Programme. And it’s proving a huge hit across our membership with 91% of those taking part completing the course and 92% recommending it to others.

But don’t take our word for it, take Jonathan’s from Abbeycroft Leisure…

“The techniques shared have already made a significant difference, and I now feel much more confident in finding my voice and contributing effectively….I learnt that I need to continually adapt my leadership approach to meet the needs of the individuals I work with.

Jonathan Harvey, General Manager Abbeycroft Leisure

The ELP is an accredited training programme for new and emerging leaders and those who wish to sharpen their skills in leadership and management.

In particular, if you have the following individuals across your teams

  • Emerging managerial talent – no current management experience; currently not managing a team but you envisage this changing within 12 months.
  • New Managers in post with no formal training.
  • Existing Line Managers (first or second line) that you would like to support to become more effective in their roles.

Currently we have a variety of learners progressing through the programme – they include Duty Managers, Operations Managers, Membership Associate, Head of People and Development, Senior Software Developer, Leisure Centre Manager.

It is tailored to be delivered both as guided (online) and self-directed learning to foster a deep understanding of leadership and management principles. Each delegate will complete three modules representing 20 hours of total learning – 10 hours of guided learning and 10 self-directed.

Guided learning sessions are organised and delivered via Google meets as 5 x 2-hour sessions. The timing of these sessions for each of the programmes in 2026, will be shared with you in advance.

We negotiated a heavy discount for the introduction of the programme of 25%. Which means you pay just £450 + VAT per person for this training.

The ELP aligns with The Institute of Leadership’s “Dimensions of Leadership,” emphasising the following:

  • Authenticity: Building self-awareness, ethics, integrity, and trust.

  • Achievement: Promoting performance management, talent development, and workplace health.

“I have been a General Manager with Abbeycroft Leisure for over eight years, and I am always keen to develop my skills and knowledge as a leader. The CLUK Emerging Leaders Programme was a well-structured, engaging, and informative course that helped me better understand the importance of recognising both my own leadership traits, behaviors, and profile, as well as those of my team.

Throughout the programme, we explored a wide range of topics, from effective communication to performance management. The biggest breakthrough for me was realising how interconnected all the course content is. I leant that I need to continually adapt my leadership approach to meet the needs of the individuals I work with.

Our tutor was outstanding throughout the programme. She brought the content to life with relevant real-world examples, making it easy to apply the learning to everyday situations. She was always approachable, encouraged questions, and adapted discussions to ensure the content was meaningful and relevant to each participant.

I would also like to personally thank them for going above and beyond the course itself by offering me a one-to-one coaching session on improving my presence and confidence when speaking in large meetings.

“The techniques shared have already made a significant difference, and I now feel much more confident in finding my voice and contributing effectively in these situations.

“I would highly recommend the CLUK Emerging Leaders Programme to new managers, experienced leaders, and anyone in between. The course provides a wealth of practical tools, insights, and guidance that can help anyone looking to develop their leadership skills, enhance team performance, and support their ongoing career progression.”
