Larisa – Elswick Community Pool

About Banner

Larisa is an exceptional employee whose passion, enthusiasm and commitment have made a lasting difference to our centre and the community we serve. She inspires colleagues through her positive attitude, professionalism and willingness to consistently go above and beyond.

During her time at Elswick, Larisa has played a key role in growing our swim school, helping to more than double participation from 512 to 1,141 children, while we now teach over 1,600 children each week through our partnerships with 21 primary schools. She has also organised 106 children’s breakfast club sessions, supporting families who may otherwise struggle with childcare and food costs, and secured funding to provide subsidised swimming lessons for children from lower-income families.

Larisa’s contribution extends far beyond her core role. Over the last four years, she has delivered 46 CPR, lifeguard and first aid workshops in schools and the community, sharing vital skills that can help save lives. She continually looks for ways to use her skills to benefit children, families, colleagues and the wider community.

The difference Larisa has made is significant. She has helped children develop essential swimming and water-safety skills, improved access for disadvantaged families, and supported the health, wellbeing and safety of local people.

Larisa truly embodies an outstanding employee. Her dedication, compassion and selflessness are an inspiration. She is an irreplaceable part of our team and community.

Her selflessness is also clear in her decision to return to Romania to support her father following a family bereavement, putting family before herself personally.
