Community Leisure UK Introduce New Carbon Literacy Shareable Course to Get Even More Companies on the Road to Net Zero

Published on: July 9th 2024

Community Leisure UK’s hugely popular Carbon Literacy Training for Public Leisure & Culture is now available as a Shareable Course – a ready to use training resource to upskill your whole workforce to be Carbon Literate.

Earlier this year, the members’ organisation for charitable trusts and social enterprises developed a bespoke training package for those working in public leisure and culture to support their journey to net zero.

Due to its simple explanation of the complex subject matter and sector specific examples of good practice, it proved a huge hit with members of Community Leisure UK (CLUK). Now, they’ve made the training available for any company delivering public leisure and culture.

The new Shareable Course will be available to all those completing the initial Carbon Literacy for Public Leisure and Culture course, allowing them to go on and deliver Carbon Literacy Training for people within their own company. If you are already certified Carbon Literate and working in Public Leisure and Culture, you may also be eligible to access this course to deliver training within your organisation.

Community Leisure UK recognise the climate emergency and are working hard to support their members to make public leisure and culture more sustainable, Jennifer Huygen, Head of Policy and Strategic Partnership at Community Leisure UK said: “There are many reasons why taking our Carbon Literacy Training for Public Leisure and Culture is a great idea. Taking proactive steps to reduce your carbon footprint can give your company a financial boost, saving money by reducing your emissions. But it also plays a big part in improving customer appeal because you’re greener and can even improve your score when tendering contracts.

“Our new Shareable Course means even more companies delivering public leisure and culture will benefit because there’s no limit to how many members of staff can be trained. The Shareable Course gives you the support and tools to give everyone in your company the confidence to be part of the climate change conversation and, therefore, play a key role in delivering your new net zero plan.”

Those acquiring it will be able to train as many people in their organisation as they like. The course is licensed for use for three years from point of purchase. Community Leisure UK will donate to the Carbon Literacy Project for each sold course to support their work.
