Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure Exercise on Referral Team has been nominated for Best Health and Wellbeing Initiative in the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Service Awards.

Vision RCL Exercise on Referral team has been in place since 2008, supporting residents to engage in patient centred, supervised programme which is designed to help build confidence as well as help patients achieve their physical goals and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Referrals are accepted from people with various health conditions, including obesity, mental health, diabetes. A recent expansion now allows referrals with musculoskeletal and long Covid conditions, there is also a learning disability pathway and neurological, cardiac and cancer rehabilitation options.

The APSE Service Awards are a singular way to honour the remarkable impact local council frontline services have had on nearby areas and local residents. These honours recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the provision of public services on the front line while working towards ongoing improvement.

The APSE Awards are unique to the front-line services offered by UK local governments. A group of knowledgeable judges decides who receives the honours. This year, there were 21 categories for the Awards, which encompassed the great majority of local services. The prestigious Overall Council of the Year in Service Delivery Award shortlist is currently being considered; it will be revealed at a later time.

The winners will be announced at the APSE Annual Charity Awards Dinner, in aid of Parkinson’s UK, on Thursday 14 September 2023 at the world leading visitor attraction Titanic Belfast. To find out more about the Vision RCL Exercise on Referral team visit: visionrcl.org.uk/eor
