Golden Days for Transplant Recipient

Published on: May 2nd 2023

Earlier this year, we told you about the transplant recipient who was off to the World Transplant Games thanks to the support given by Charitable Trust Trilogy Active.

And we’re delighted to say Karen Rockell won three golds, one silver and a bronze medal in the pool at the games.

Karen Rockell underwent a liver transplant in October 2010 and is part of the Trilogy Talented Athlete Scheme and trains at Trilogy Active’s Cripps Recreation Centre and Duston Sports Centre.

“I was extremely proud to represent my donor and his family, my town and country at the World Transplant Games and absolutely delighted with my medals, a result of a lot of hard work in the pool and the gym in the lead up to the Games.” said Karen. “I hope that people reading this will be inspired to recognise the importance of organ donation and go to Home – NHS Organ Donation to find out more.”

Karen swam in the 50m Butterfly, Freestyle, Backstroke, Breast Stroke and the 100m Freestyle in Perth. She also represented Team GB at the World Transport Games in 2017 (Spain) and 2019 (Newcastle) as well as the European Transplant and Dialysis Games in 2022.

John Fletcher, Managing Director of Trilogy Active, said: “I am thrilled that Trilogy Active has been able to support Karen on her World Transplant Games journey. Her achievements on the global stage are simply amazing; she is a true inspiration to us all.”

Karen also volunteers with Trilogy Active as a Wellbeing Walk Leader and leads the Duston and St. Crispin’s weekly walks with her husband.
