YOUR Trust, the charitable organisation operating venues and leisure centres throughout Rochdale, has revealed its 2022-23 Impact Report, showing how they support the local community through re-investment and new initiatives.
Your Trust operates leisure and cultural venues across the borough, on behalf of Rochdale Borough Council, including Touchstones Rochdale, Middleton Arena, Heywood Sports Village, Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre, Littleborough Sports Centre, Heywood Civic Centre and Rochdale Leisure Centre.
Estelle Rowe, CEO of Your Trust, reflects: “In keeping with our unwavering commitment to supporting our local community to live active, creative, happy and healthy lives, throughout the year we have strived to make a positive and lasting difference on the wellbeing of local residents through the vast array of programmes, activities and experiences that Your Trust offer.
“As we reflect on the milestones achieved in the past year, we are incredibly proud to hear the stories of transformation and witness the lasting impact on the lives of individuals. It is through their remarkable journeys and experiences that we truly understand the significance of our work, and as we celebrate the achievements of the past year, we also look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. The top figures from the report included:
Councillor Sue Smith, Cabinet member for communities, culture and co-operatives, said: “Despite the nation facing the difficulties felt by the cost-of-living crisis, Your Trust, and the venues it operates, have done everything to ensure they are still accessible and affordable for all in the borough.
“We can only expect to see the figures grow from strength to strength, and we’re delighted for what the next 12 months will hold.”
With its mission to ‘create more active, creative, and healthy lifestyles’, the charitable trust places an importance on inclusivity, providing a wide range of programmes that meets everyone’s needs, from every background.
Programmes and events such as the Hollingworth Lake Disability Days welcomed 136 children, young people and adults with disabilities or additional needs to take part in accessible water sports, and a holiday club for children with a mild to moderate disability to enjoy activities such as gymnastics, swimming, team building, archery, rugby and multi-sports saw more than 880 children in attendance. As part of GM Active, the charity continued to deliver the Greater Manchester-wide Prehab4Cancer programme, supporting 27 residents in the borough.
Alongside the community activities and support that Your Trust have provided over the last twelve months, the charity, working with Rochdale Borough Council, has also secured NPO status for Touchstones for the first time in the venue’s history. This has enabled significant refurbishment opportunities to take place at the venue, future proofing it’s integral part of the Rochdale Borough community.
Other achievements of note across the 2022-23 year include a score of 87% from the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service for Visit England, gym refurbishments at Littleborough Sports Centre, and a continued focus on improving Gender Pay Gap, Fair Pay and Diversity in the Workplace.
David Gelsthorpe, Chair of the Board of Trustees, added: “Beginning my journey as the Chair back in April 2022, when the start of this new annual Impact Report commenced, it’s been an honour to stand alongside an organisation that places their residents at the heart of everything they do. The figures mean nothing without the true impact we’re seeing throughout the community, and the ripple effect this continues to have hereafter.
“With so many exciting plans already in motion for the year ahead, I’m delighted that we will continue to build on the work that we have done to make a real difference in the community.”
