New low-impact studio “Lilian’s Room” gives residents in East Sussex new ways to move

Published on: March 24th 2026

Lilian’s Room is Wave Actives’ brand-new power-assisted, low-impact exercise space, designed to bridge the gap between clinical rehabilitation and everyday movement.

Named after the kind resident who left Wave Active the legacy gift that  made the studio possible – It’s all about helping more people move safely, confidently and independently.

The new suite in Downs Leisure Centre, Seaford features a wide range of innovative equipment, powered by Innerva, and technology designed to support active ageing, rehabilitation, and people living with illness or long-term health conditions.

For example, this suite is home to STROLLL, a digital therapeutic system using augmented reality (AR) technology to support mobility, cognitive engagement, balance, and functional rehabilitation. This is the first time this technology has been available outside a clinical setting and is now supporting users’ health and function.

The space also contains Tiny Tablets, large interactive touchscreen tablets that provide apps for stroke rehabilitation and cognitive training, various movement-based activities to help improve mobility, and more.

Already, visitors to Lilian’s Room have noticed a big difference in their wellbeing.

John says: “I thought Lilian’s Room would be a great cool-down after a cardiac class, and it’s been really beneficial. After our first session, we felt really pleased — it’s a mild workout that releases endorphins and gives you that feel-good factor. The Power Assisted machines make exercise more accessible and comfortable. It took a little getting used to, but now we think it’s really good. We tried a free taster session and are hooked!”

Maureen says: “I’ve been seeing an osteopath for a few years and when I last went after having been to Lilian’s, he said he’d never felt my muscles in my back so soft. He said he no longer needs to see me anymore and to carry on doing what I’m doing. I feel the rotary torso is then one that’s helped me the most.”
