Rachel Holloway is an exceptional employee whose passion, expertise and unwavering
commitment have transformed the lives of hundreds of cardiac rehabilitation participants across Oldham.

For more than 20 years, Rachel has dedicated her career to supporting people recovering from heart conditions, helping them regain confidence, improve their health and rebuild their lives through the REACH Exercise Referral Scheme.

Cardiac patients make up approximately 80% of Rachel’s client base, and she is renowned for her compassionate, person-centred approach. She takes the time to understand every individual, tailoring programmes to their specific needs, abilities and goals.

Participants consistently describe her as warm, supportive and motivating, creating an environment where people feel safe, valued and empowered to succeed.

Rachel’s contribution goes far beyond the expectations of her role. In addition to delivering high-quality rehabilitation programmes, she has responded heroically during several life-threatening emergencies.

Over the years, Rachel has successfully resuscitated four individuals who suffered cardiac events at the centre, including two cases requiring defibrillation. In each instance, her calmness, professionalism and clinical expertise directly contributed to saving lives.

These incidents involved people who were not under her formal care, yet she immediately stepped forward without hesitation.

Her impact extends far beyond physical rehabilitation. Rachel helps people overcome fear, rebuild confidence and reconnect with their communities following serious health events.

Through her dedication, empathy and exceptional professionalism, she has improved the quality of life of countless Oldham residents and embodies the values of Oldham Active.

Rachel demonstrates remarkable passion in everything she does. For over two decades she has supported people recovering from life-changing cardiac conditions, providing both clinical expertise and emotional reassurance during what is often one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

Her ability to motivate participants, encourage colleagues and instil confidence in those who are anxious about exercise makes her a role model across the organisation.

Rachel consistently exceeds the expectations of her role. Most notably, she has successfully resuscitated four individuals experiencing cardiac emergencies, including administering life-saving defibrillation on two occasions.
