This Supported Internship programme is an employment-based course giving young people with additional needs the opportunity to develop their employability skills and progress into paid employment.

Active Tameside provides young people aged 16–24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan a structured pathway into the workplace. It combines education with meaningful work placements, personalised support and on-the-job learning, with the ultimate ambition of securing sustainable paid employment.

Creating genuine pathways into employment, removing barriers to opportunity, developing local talent, and supporting people to build sustainable careers regardless of their background, experience, or starting point.

Over the past 12 months, more than 250 people have participated in employment and skills development opportunities through apprenticeships, workplace placements, professional qualifications, mentoring, leadership development, and career progression initiatives.

Positive Destinations is an early intervention programme that uses sport and physical activity to help young people overcome barriers and progress towards positive futures.

Working with young people aged 13 and over, the programme delivers up to eight courses each year, providing tailored support to help participants build confidence and progress towards various developmental pathways.

This year, Positive Destinations delivered 8 courses, engaging 76 young people, with 69 successfully completing their programme. Read More >>




Fife Sports and Leisure Trust’s Learning, Development and Skills Pathways programme opens community leisure as a route to growth and sustainable careers.

Delivered across 14 venues, it connects volunteering, work experience, traineeships, funded qualifications and staff development so people can enter, progress and build careers close to home.

In 2025/26, the programme supported 558 staff, 64 volunteers and 18 work placements. Volunteer numbers increased by 73%, from 37 to 64, and 31% secured employment at the end of their placement. Read More >>
