Christine ‘Chris’ Percival’s passion, compassion and commitment have made a lasting difference to the lives of people across her community. Over the past 23 months, Chris has contributed more than 238 volunteer hours.

As a Walking Netball Host, she champions inclusion at every opportunity, ensuring new and less experienced participants are encouraged, supported and given the confidence to become part of the social side of sessions.

Through her support, participants have formed friendships, grown in confidence and reduced feelings of isolation. Chris has played a significant role in participation across Congleton increasing by 17% over the last 12 months. Read More >>


Following an epilepsy-related seizure and serious fall, Jen temporarily lost her mobility and had to relearn how to walk. After completing Edinburgh Leisure’s Balanced Life falls prevention programme, and inspired by her recovery, she was determined to help.


Just two months later, Jen became a Balanced Life volunteer. For more than 10 years, she has shown outstanding passion and leadership, creating a warm, welcoming environment where participants feel safe, motivated and able to take part.

Her support directly impacts participants’ confidence, independence and sense of safety.  Through her dedication, empathy and commitment, Jen has enhanced the quality of life of hundreds of participants.

His knowledge, passion and approachable manner have helped create memorable experiences for thousands of visitors.

Bryan has made a profound and lasting contribution to his community – transforming opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to participate in competitive sport, creating an environment where individuals can develop confidence, build friendships and experience the joy of being part of a team.

He began volunteering as a basketball coach for High Life Highland’s Active Schools programme in 2016. Brian has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair but this has not stopped him successfully competing and coaching wheelchair basketball for many years.

Delivering basketball sessions to over 40 children on a weekly basis as well as organising multiple tournaments and various summer activities for young people, he is at the forefront of promoting wheelchair basketball in the Highlands.
